Ever since the EAT Barbecue sauces and rubs made their way into our warehouse last week, I’ve been anxious to give them a test run. Their arrival just happened to coincide with Memorial Day weekend, which also happened to be a rare off-weekend for our competition barbecue team, Burnt Finger BBQ. Since I’m always looking for reasons to fire up the smoker, we decided to use the long weekend to put the EAT Barbecue products to use and see how they perform first-hand.
The EAT Barbecue sauces and rubs are the product of Rod Gray, pitmaster for the Pellet Envy competition barbecue team. The team is comprised of Rod and his wife Sherri. Issuing a proclamation of “monumental flavor” is a tall order for any product to live up to. Only a brand hailing from our nation’s capital that’s been produced and distributed by ex-politicians would issue such a promise to the citizens of the United States. Luckily these politicians are originally from Missouri, so they’ve got a true barbecue agenda that can’t be swayed by lobbyist kickbacks or political bribery. We’ve been sampling their products for a few weeks now, and we can confidently confirm that you can take these politicians for their word with their Pork Barrel BBQ products!
Every year About.com conducts their Readers’ Choice Awards to showcase the best products, features and services across a multitude of categories. A few months back they invited their readers to nominate their favorite barbecue related products, and we’re thrilled to announce that our own line of Burnt Finger BBQ products were picked as finalists in both the barbecue sauce and barbecue rub categories. It’s an honor to be recognized as one of the top products in the country, but we still need a little help from you to bring home the title of “Best of the Best”!

As we round out our week long rendition of The Monthly Rubdown, you didn’t really think we’d showcase a line of all-natural seasonings without offering up a selection of sauces to go with it? Lucky for us, Three Little Pigs also have a complimentary line of all-natural BBQ sauces to pair with their tasty all-natural seasonings. If you’re a fan of their ever-popular Competition Sauce, then you’ll be happy to learn that each of these all-natural sauces were derived from that very recipe.
Hump Day brings us another round of The Monthly Rubdown, and this time we’re showcasing a new fruit based barbecue sauce that’s been making some waves on the competition circuit. Within it’s first year on the market Firebug Sauce has earned 3rd Place honors in the American Royal specialty category, 1st Place in the Great American BBQ hot category, 2nd Place in the Great American BBQ hot baste category, and 3rd Place in the Great American BBQ mild baste category.
Admittedly, we’ve neglected our blog over the last couple of weeks. We know how much our readers hate it when we go on hiatus (primarily because we get your complaint emails), so this week we’re making it up to you with a 5 part version of The Monthly Rubdown. Each day we’ll be introducing you to a new product (or family of products) that’s now available in our online BBQ store. To kick-off this week of Rubdowns we’re rolling out a brand new gallon size of our best selling sauce.
This past weekend our competition team, Burnt Finger BBQ, took to the road to compete in North Little Rock, AR at the Smoke on the Water barbecue contest. With a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000.00, the world’s richest barbecue contest drew many of the top teams from across the country, including a few of those familiar faces recently featured on TLC’s recent hit TV show BBQ Pitmasters.
If you were one of the lucky 300-400 people that swung by our booth at The American Royal BBQ a couple weeks ago, then you already know about (and maybe even tasted) our latest project. Remember that sauce and rub pictured in our Bacon Explosion recipe post? Well, the time has come to unveil those delicious concoctions to the world. And as a happy ending to this month’s rubdown, we’re even rolling out a few additions to some of our best selling product lines.
With your Labor Day BBQ right around the corner it’s only fitting that we hit you with another round of The Monthly Rubdown…only this time it gets a little saucy. Since we’re getting into the habit of featuring the biggest and baddest competition barbecue products on the market, we figured that it’s time to bring out the sauce from one of the winningest teams in competition history. In fact, this sauce helped win the American Royal Barbecue contest an astounding 7 years in a row!!!
The Monthly Rubdown is back and this time we’re bringing you the rubs and sauce from our absolute favorite barbecue restaurant in Kansas City. Granted, KC is known for the legendary classics like Gates, Arthur Bryant’s and Jack Stack, but if you ask any local, they’ll point you in the direction of true Kansas City style flavor. Even Anthony Bourdain recently christened this hot spot as one his “13 Place to Eat Before You Die”. If you’ve ever had the chance to swing through, then you know exactly what Anthony is talking about.
