Fast Eddie's Steak SeasoningEver since we launched The Monthly Rubdown feature by showcasing Plowboy’s award winning rubs, we’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of rubs and sauces. Well, we’ve taken our time and evaluated each and every product that has graced our test kitchen. And although most of the products were good, only a select few have shown the standout level of quality that we’re looking for.  In fact, the producers of our latest find are so confident about the quality of their product, they tout it as “Oklahoma’s best kept family secret”…and we agree!!!

Over 30 years ago Fast Eddie jumped into the spice business by developing a cost effective all-purpose seasoning for his family to enjoy. At the time the end goal was more about saving money than creating a commercial product, but as Eddie quickly found himself making 70+ pound batches in his home kitchen, his son decided it was time to take the leap into a full retail product, and thus Fast Eddies Steak Seasoning was born.

Tasting the seasoning by itself yields a potent, but magnificent, blend of salty, peppery, garlicy goodness. We’ve sampled it on everything from beef, chicken, and pork to veggies, french fries and casseroles, and to date we have yet to find anything that we haven’t enjoyed (although we’re reluctant to try it on ice cream :) ).

    This seasoning is most definitely the bomb. I ran into these guys at the New Mexico Pork & Brew with my wife and sampled their ribs. While not quite traditional BBQ, the ribs were fantastic and I returned to their booth three times until my wife dragged me away after I purchased 2 Jars saying we had to look at honey.

    Needless to say, I’m down to one Jar and I think my neighbor Steve has secretly been pouring spice into his pockets when I’m not looking because I know he always grabs a few extra beers from the cooler.

    Glad to here that you guys dig it to.

    @Stugahtz – I’ve tried LOTS of steak seasoning over the year, and this one is probably my favorite. I can definitely see why your friend has been pouring it in his pants! :)

    @Bryan – That was my thought as well. Fast Eddies will be replacing plenty of “all-purpose” seasonings in my spice cabinet!!!

    As a BBQ aficionado and Twitter user, I recently found out about this seasoning via Fast Eddie’s posts on Twitter ( Coincidentally, it’s also how I found BBQ Addicts with all the hubbub over the Bacon Explosion months back.

    I was always a DIY meat season-er, hitting about 4 or 5 individual spices in the spice cabinet. No more! Fast Eddies is an excellent all around seasoning. I’ve gone through about half a jar now on various meats including pork chops, chicken & steak. So far, my favorite application is a healthy coating on a nice 1″ thick T-Bone cooked to MR over lump charcoal. It adds an excellent flavor, just as you mention, a good balance of salt, pepper and garlic with a bit of heat.

    Good idea to sprinkle it on French Fries, I’ll have to try that one!
