The Baron's Steak Seasoning Recipe

There are plenty of great commercial seasonings on the market, but when it comes to a steak seasoning I err on the side of simple. The Baron’s Steak Seasoning recipe is basic mixture salt and pepper, with a few simple additions. This recipe also pairs perfectly with The Baron’s Steak Marinade Recipe and my Homemade Steak Sauce Recipe.

  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground Malabar black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon white cane sugar

Combine all of the ingredients and blend well.

Place in an airtight jar and store in a cool dark place until ready to use.

I would never have thought about adding sugar to a steak rub but I’ll defer to the Baron on that one. Are you using the sugar flavor or more for color? Either way, I’ll have to give this a shot. Thanks.

  2. Jason says:

Chris – The sugar is more for color. It carmelizes over the intense heat of the grill.

The sugar is a flavor enhancer it not only brings out the flavors of the other spices but works with the flavors of the steak.
