Congratulations (and welcome) to Paul Kirk

Paul KirkFirst and foremost, I would like to congratulate Paul Kirk on the recent announcement of his induction into the Barbecue Hall of Fame! Known in many circles as the Kansas City Baron of Barbecue, Paul has a had a storied career that has spanned both the competition and commercial realms of barbecue. He joins Steven Raichlen and Ed Fisher (founder of Big Green Egg) as the 2015 class of inductees into the Barbecue Hall of Fame!

Secondly, and seemingly well timed…I would also like to welcome Paul Kirk as a contributor to our BBQ Addicts blog! Paul brings to the table a wealth of barbecue knowledge and experience. His influence is already felt throughout the barbecue world (you use BBQ rub…right?), so we’re thrilled to offer a platform to help spread his ideas and influence even further!

Paul has won more than 545 cooking and barbecue awards, and is a 7-time World Barbecue Champion (including victories at the American Royal Open, American Royal Invitational, and Jack Daniels Invitational).  He’s co-authored twelve barbecue cookbooks, is a founding member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society (of which he served on the board of directors for 25 years), and has trained barbecue restaurant staff at countless joints across the country.  To this day Paul still runs the Baron’s School of Pitmasters to teach and promote his breed of barbecue.

In the days, weeks, and months to come you can expect to see numerous posts featuring recipes, methods, techniques, and all-around barbecue theory from the Baron of BBQ himself.
